The Plunger Lift Monitoring package monitors plunger lifted well's parameters, calculates cycle parameters, and uses those to create a problem score and a plunger replacement score.
Usage
Run the workflows from this package to perform the calculations.
Details
Plunger Lift Cycle Calculations
The workflow uses the input signals to calculate the following cycle parameters and save them in the signals shown in parentheses:
- Shut-in duration (plunger cycle shutin duration)
- Production duration (plunger cycle production duration)
- Plunger rise velocity (plunger rise velocity)
- Produced gas volume per plunger cycle (produced gas per cycle)
- Casing minus well head pressures at the end of the production period (differential pressure at end of plunger cycle)
Plunger Lift Problem Score
The workflow uses the created cycle parameters to calculate a problem score that depends on the detection of a drop in the plunger rise velocity, an increase in the difference between the casing and well head pressures at the end of the production period, and a drop in the volume of gas produced per plunger cycle; all compared to expected values. The following signals are saved:
- plunger velocity drop score
- differential pressure increase score
- produced gas drop score
- problem score
Plunger Lift Replacement Score
The workflow uses the created cycle parameters and the dates of the plunger replacements that took place in each of the plunger lifted wells in order to calculate a plunger replacement score that suggests how close a plunger is to a maximum historic mileage at which a plunger run in the same well was replaced. The following signals are saved:
- plunger mileage
- plunger replacement score
Plunger Lift Surveillance
The workflow creates surveillance by exception tag entries and calculates well ranking information.
Tag entries for the following tags are created:
- High Flow Line Pressure
- High Tubing Head Pressure
- High Casing Head Pressure
The following signals are saved:
- plunger lift performance score
Data Requirements
The following data is required
- gas production rate
- casing head pressure
- well head pressure
- flowline pressure
- plunger replacement tags
